Four Days at Dragon*Con: National Distribution Scheduled

April Premieres for Four Days At Dragon*Con

WPBA in Atlanta and Dragon*Con are proud to announce the details for national distribution of Four Days at Dragon*Con.  This documentary delves into the background of the largest fan-run convention in the world, Dragon*Con, but capturing the costuming, panels, and events of 2009.    Four Days at Dragon*Con is being distributed by American Public Television (APT) in April.

According to Director Jack Walks, “Dates and times are starting to trickle in from the states, but most stations don’t post schedules for more than two weeks out.” Those interesting in viewing this intriguing expose of conventional life will need to check local listings for more information.

One place that will be carrying Four Days At Dragon*Con is the Digital Feed for PBS and APT, WORLD.  Walsh shared that this venue has the viewing of all venues carrying the program. On April 2, WORLD will show “Four Days” several times, with a few encores in the following days. This is the closest thing to a simultaneous national airing that the show will get.

Here are the WORLD dates (in Eastern time):

Saturday, April 2 10 am
3 pm
8 pm
Sunday, April 3 1 am
Thursday, April 7 5 am
11 am
Friday, April 8 6 am

One important thing that Walsh reminds Dragon*Con fans is that WORLD might be rebranded in some markets. “For instance,” he points out,  “in Georgia it’s GPB Knowledge.  So people should check their local listings.”

Continue to check the listings for their local public broadcasting affiliates. Dates and times will continue to expand through the spring time.

The show has been made available on a two-year contract, so even if a station has opted not to run “Four Days” initially, they still can add it to their programming soon. If Dragon*Con fans find that “Four Days” is not airing in their area, it is not too late to call their local PBS stations.

Dan Carroll, Media Relations Director for Dragon*Con has noted that excitement about Four Days at Dragon*Con has been spreading on the internet.  “Dragon*Con fans and members have seen Four Days on local WPBA30 and have spread over live journal, facebook, twitter, and other social networking.”   In fact, Four Days at Dragon*Con has it’s own Facebook Page,  http://www.facebook.com/DragonConPBS, and a Twitter feed,  http://twitter.com/4DaysDragonCon.
