What if I am an approved reporter but can’t attend Dragon Con 2016?
Written By: Samm Douglas - Jul• 29•16

If you are an approved reporter for Dragon Con 2016, but can’t attend the convention this year, please contact us BEFORE the convention with an email that states that you are unable to attend.   The easiest way for us to track your change of status is to include ‘UNABLE TO ATTEND” in your status line.

  • Each year we review our “no show” reporters. and we usually do not approve them for future years
  • If we have an email prior to Dragon Con we remove your name from the list of active reporters and do not print a badge for you
  • Reporters who notify us will still be welcomed in future years
  • What if I need a substitute reporter to replace me?
    • Substitutions are not automatically approved
    • Prior to August 15, you can also have an alternate reporter apply to take your position
      • Substitutes are not automatic
      • Your substitute will need to apply online
    • After August 15, substitutions are provided only for web-based media with national prominence, large market newspapers, or broadcast reporters
      • Fan run media will not be awarded substitutions

If you have not arrived at Dragon Con by Saturday afternoon, we will send you a courtesy email asking you to confirm that you are still planning to attend the convention. Please respond to that email.

What if I need to add an extra reporter onsite?

  • Onsite registration is provided for local ATL broadcast reporters, nationally prominent reporters who have been given late assignments, and regionally significant outlets
  • Our registration desk has a list of approved local outlets that can add reporters onsite
  • Fan-based media will not qualify for exceptions

So there is onsite registration for media at Dragon Con?

  • Onsite registration is provided for local mass media and regionally/national significant media
  • Fan-based web media with a medium or small following are not authorized for onsite registration
  • Onsite registration would be appropriate for Gawker media, Crave media, CNN, etc
  • Feel free to ask via email
  • We have allocated a very small number of badges for onsite registration
