Panels, Workshops Offer Advice, Networking for Aspiring Writers and Literary Fans

ATLANTA – August 27, 2013 – With guests ranging from Hugo Award winner Larry Niven to Professor Carol Barrowman, the Writers’ Track at Dragon Con 2013, Atlanta’s internationally known pop culture, fantasy and sci-fi convention, offers something for writers of all abilities.

Dragon Con 2013 will be held Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30 – Sept. 2, with activities across the AmericasMart and five host hotels – Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Marriott Marquis, Hilton Atlanta, Westin Peachtree and Sheraton Atlanta – in downtown Atlanta.

Designed for writers and literary admirers alike, the Writers’ Track features panels led by today’s top literary talent in the science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, and alternative history scenes.

In addition to a full schedule of panel discussions, Writing Workshops can be one of the highlights of the convention and is one of best ways that published and aspiring authors can get valuable advice from working writers.
A schedule of 15 Writing Workshops will give new authors a chance to work closely with The New York Times bestselling authors Aaron Allston and Michael A. Stackpole, known for their Star Wars novels, on specific aspects of writing, plot development and story craft. These workshops run in one-hour sessions Friday to Sunday.

Also, Jody Lynn Nye is returning to host her Two-Day Intensive Writer’s Workshop. Limited to 20 pre-registered attendees, this workshop will cover everything from story structure to marketing and promotion and will include guest lecturers from Todd McCaffrey (co-author, Dragonriders of Pern), Jim Minz (senior editor, Baen Books), Kevin J. Anderson (author, The Phantom Menace) and Rebecca Moesta (author, Crystal Doors).
