Contact Media Relations the Week of Dragon Con

The week of Dragon Con is a busy week for all of us. Dragon Con Media Relations will be leaving our office on 8/27 and heading to Dragon Con, where the Greenbriar Registration Room in the Hyatt Regency will open 2PM on Thursday, 8/28.

Emails and phone calls will be addressed when possible during this time.

  • The best way to reach Media Relations that week is a SMS message to 404-692-1958. Please include your name, outlet, and your question.  Media relations will conducting a number of interviews but will get back to you when it is possible.
  • Beginning 10AM on 8/28 you can reach us via the Hyatt Regency Atlanta by calling  (404) 577-1234 and asking for The Greenbriar Room.
  • Come see us in person during Dragon Con.

For new reporters, cellular service degrades horribly during Dragon Con, we recommend everyone go directly to the Greenbriar room for questions during Dragon Con.

Request an onsite Interview W/Media Relations Representative

We have scheduled two blocks of interviews with Dan Carroll, Media relations representative. If you are interesting in being including in those blocks for an interview, please complete this form.

At this time we are not processing requests to interview directors, because on site they will be doing their job, but we will be passing your requests on for follow up interviews.

Reporter Tours!

What is this about a pub crawl?

https://www.facebook.com/events/1415597388722726/

Details are being worked out, but we will meet around 7:00 PM and we will tour portions of Dragon Con, while enjoying adult beverages.  Reporters will be able to mingle with Dragon Con Directors and other reporters while Dan Carroll, Media Relations Direction for Dragon Con serves as your tour guide. This is our second year and last year turned into a blast.  This is open to all reporters, friends, colleagues, and Dragon Con directors and volunteers are also invited. .

Is there a new reporter walk though?  Yes!

https://www.dragoncon.org/mediarelations/2014/08/04/new-reporter-walk-through-announced/

First and Second Year reporters at Dragon Con will be allowed to register for a more formal walk trough of Dragon Con.   Sign up now!

This doesn’t have to be your first year to participate, but if you are a veteran, we ask that you ask Dan Carroll for clearance to join the tour. We want to answer a lot of questions for new reporters.

Comedy/Ad Hominem Attacks

I hate to include this, but recently a concern has been brought to my attention and this policy has to be repeated.

While we support your first amendment rights, we do not provide media access and complimentary badges to reporters whose work included attacks against Dragon Con or Dragon Con guests, members, volunteers, vendors, or senior staff.

Dragon Con Media Access is provided to reporters to share the joy that is Dragon Con.  We reserve the right to decline or REVOKE media access for individuals who are conducting abusive comedy or who are actively editorializing against Dragon Con, including ad hominem attacks.

The best example of abusive comedy is a comedian who posed as a reporter and hit the people he interviewed in the face with his microphone.

We have lately noticed some tweet that included ad hominem attacks against volunteers, directors, and vendors.  We appreciate all of you, but if you are using your reporting and social media to disparage Dragon Con we will exercise our right to revoke Media Access.for you and our outlet.
