How to Spell Dragon Con
Jul• 13•13

As part of the recently announced merger that created Dragon Con, Inc., we have elected to change the style and spelling of our name. Going forward, the proper style and spelling of the convention is Dragon Con (two words, no asterisk) while the company is Dragon Con, Inc.

We hope that by providing this style note, it will be easier for reporters and editors to write about Dragon Con by eliminating questions about usage. We also believe that a consistent spelling of the name will make searching for stories about Dragon Con on your website or on the Internet more complete.

It is entirely possible that you will see printed materials at Dragon Con 2013 that still show the company or event name using the asterisk. These materials were printed before the merger. Materials printed in the future will be consistent with the new style.

Best,

Dragon*Con Media Relations continues to vet media applications for Dragon*Con 2013, but we want to remind all reporters that have not yet applied that our Media Access Application deadline is August, 1, 2013.

Once you apply for media access, your application is vetted for appropriateness of your outlet for Dragon*con, the established distribution of your coverage, and the impact your coverage will have for Dragon*Con’s members.  We do not provide media access for comedy outlets, adult oriented or fetish outlets, or outlets that seek to insult or ridicule Dragon*Con Members.

While we would like to be able to provide passes for all media members who apply, increased demand requires us to limit passes for smaller media outlets. In most cases web-based media will qualify for one or two passes, unless you can demonstrate a wider appropriate distribution. Mainstream and traditional outlets normally qualify for more depending on their footprints.

So, if you want to come to Dragon*Con as a reporter, and you qualify, please make sure your applications are in on or before August 1, 2013.
